    Mauritius to stage FIBA U16 African Championship 2017

    CAIRO, Egypt (FIBA Africa) - FIBA Africa on Friday announced that Mauritius is the organising country of the FIBA U16 African Championships 2017

    CAIRO (FIBA U16 African Championship 2017) - FIBA Africa on Friday announced that Mauritius is the organising country of the FIBA U16 African Championships 2017.

    It's the first time that the 12 - team showpiece will take place on the Island.

    The participating teams will do battle for supremacy in the age category in Africa but also to claim the two places on offer to qualify for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.

    The FIBA U16 African is the youth topflight team’s tournament of the International Basketball Federation’s African Region.

    The inaugural edition of this championship was held from September 18-26, 2009 in Maputo, Mozambique, where Egypt clinched their maiden continental title in this age category.
