MADRID, Spain/MIES, Switzerland (2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup) - With just over a year before the FIBA Basketball World Cup tips off in Spain, FIBA and the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) have announced that tickets will go on sale next Tuesday, 23 July 2013, on www.fiba.com/spain2014.
The ticketing for FIBA’s flagship competition is specifically tailored to meet the wide-ranging needs of all fans. With entry to games starting at €15, this event will truly be a World Cup for everyone. The ticketing section of the website - set up in cooperation with the event's official ticketing partner www.entradas.com - will enable users to create their personal profiles, track their purchases and receive regular updates on the FIBA Basketball World Cup ticket sales.
Between next Tuesday and June 2014, the following four categories of tickets will go on sale:
• 'Follow Your Team pass' - on sale as of Tuesday 23 July. Even if their favourite teams have not yet qualified - only Spain and the USA are already qualified - fans can pre-purchase a pass that will allow them to see all five Preliminary Round games of a specific team, or even all of the games of that team throughout the entire tournament, from the Preliminary Round to the Final Round.
A 'Follow Your Team' pass uniquely for the Final Round will go on sale in October 2013, granting access to all Final Round games of a chosen team.
• Venue pass - on sale immediately after the draw of the FIBA Basketball World Cup has taken place in February 2014. This pass will provide access to all sessions taking place in the selected city. This amounts to 10 sessions and 15 games for the Preliminary Round cities, seven Final Round games for Barcelona and nine games - including the Final - for Madrid.
• Day pass - on sale from June 2014. This will grant access either to the afternoon or the evening sessions of a specific day of the Preliminary Round (three games), Eighth-Final Round (two Eighth-Finals) or Quarter-Finals (two Quarter-Finals).
• Session tickets - on sale from July 2014. This will give access to specific games, depending on schedule, single or double sessions (1 ticket, 2 games).
Finally, in order to protect fans from the inequalities and high prices of black market tickets, a secondary market and re-sale programme will be put in place at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
